School Board to meet Monday, March 25

Red Wing School Board has full agendas for both its workshop and regular board meeting Monday, March 25, 2024.

The evening will begin with a workshop at 5 p.m. Three items are on the agenda:

  1. A presentation on the I Love U Guys standard response protocol. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s school safe school assessment coordinator will give an overview of how five actions – Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter – fit any emergency.
  2. A discussion on how the board will respond to the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee’s Feb. 20 letter of non-concurrence regarding education programming.
  3. An update on student vaping at school.

At their 6 p.m. business meeting, board members will discuss the Red Wing Public School’s relationship with the Goodhue County Education District

At their March 11 meeting, board members received an assessment from special education consulting firm Creatively Focused, which gave the RWPS/GCED collaborative a 57% health rating. On March 25, Superintendent Martina Wagner will provide an update and the board will determine next steps.

Also on the agenda are teacher non-renewals, a report from safety consultant Wendy German, and a student showcase with the boys swim/dive team.

Both the meeting and workshop will be held in Red Wing High School J110. Only the business meeting will be streamed live and recorded on the District’s YouTube channel.The agendas are posted on the BoardBook.
