Remember to stay home when ill

Respiratory illnesses have increased in the last couple of weeks in our schools. Please review the following guidelines.

Red Wing Public Schools strongly recommends again this year that people stay home when ill. This is especially important if you have a:

  • Fever over 100 degrees,
  • Disruptive cough,
  • Runny nose and congestion,
  • Sore throat,
  • Headache and body aches.

Be mindful of the following preventative measures:

  • Wash hands often,
  • Spray down surfaces to disinfect commonly touched areas,
  • Cough or sneeze into your inner elbow,
  • Stay home until your symptoms have significantly improved,
  • Get plenty of sleep,
  • Eat healthy,
  • Drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.

There have been questions regarding COVID protocol. CDC recommends staying out for 5 days, however staff and students can return to school sooner if their symptoms have greatly improved and they have had no fever for 24 hours.

CDC protocol is recommended – not required. Please consider wearing a mask for a few days when you return.

The bottom line is you need to stay home if you are sick. This will help to stop the spread of any illness.
