Common Questions

How do I apply for a job?

Red Wing Public Schools uses an online application system for all district vacancies. If you have questions relating to a specific vacancy, please contact the Human Resources at 651-385-4511.

Can I complete an application if there are no current vacancies in my area of interest?

You may create an account in anticipation of a vacancy being posted. If a position is posted in one of your areas of interest, you will be notified via email.

How long are applications kept on file?

As long as you maintain and update your applicant file, it will remain active as long as RWPS continues to use its current online system.

Become a Substitute

If you are interested in substitute teaching in our district, we offer two options:

1. People who have a bachelor’s or advanced degree should apply online at www.teachersoncall.com.

If you have already applied with Teachers On Call at a neighboring district, you do not need to reapply. Simply call Teachers On Call at 800-713-4439 and advise that you would like to be able to access opportunities in the Red Wing Public School as well.

Teachers On Call will identify your interests, qualifications, skills, and experience, and will match them to the needs of our schools.

2. People who hold an associate’s degree in any field or hold a high school diploma, or equivalent, and have worked for at least one year as an educational support professional with Red Wing Public Schools may complete a short-call sub application as part of a pilot project.

Short-call limits the length of time a sub may fill in for a specific teacher. Hiring short-call substitute teachers who don’t hold a four-year degree was made possible through recent state legislation, which requires the District to provide instruction on teaching and classroom management strategies. For more information, call 651-385-4511.

Become a substitute ‘para’

The District also needs substitute educational support paraprofessionals. These ‘paras’ help students in the classroom, with highly training paras also able to work with special education students.

Teachers On Call is currently recruiting substitute paraprofessionals and educational assistants, to work in RWPS on an on-call basis.

Apply at www.teachersoncall.com.
