The inaugural Kindness 101 CHARACTER COUNTS National Teacher of the Year honor, which was announced in January 2026 during a visit by CBS journalist Steve Hartman, culminated with an award ceremony April 17 hosted by Drake University’s Robert D. and Billie Ray Center.
