Good luck at State, Wingers swim & dive!

Red Wing High School will send five swim & dive team competitors plus three alternates to the state meet Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 26-28. They are:

  • Nick Babcock – 50 free and 200 free relay.
  • Luke Farrar – 200 free relay.
  • Eli Flattum – 50 free and 200 free relay.
  • Zach Mikkelson –1M Diving and 200 free relay.
  • Landen Nelson –1M Diving.
  • Alternates – Bradley Abney, Jeronimo Alvarez, and Zach Shefveland.

Competition will start at noon each day at the University of Minnesota’s Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center. Diving preliminaries will be on Thursday (8 dives). Nelson is diver #6 and Mikkelson is diver #21. On Friday, the swimmers will compete; then the top 16 swimmers and divers in each event will compete again on Saturday in the championships (the divers will do their last 3 dives). Red Wing High Schools 200 free relay team of 2026.

At the Section 1A championships Friday, Feb. 20, Eli Flattum, Nick Babcock, Luke Farrar and Zach Mikkelson qualified for state in the 200 free relay, making the cut time of 1:33.57 by swimming in 1:32.29 seconds. They place fifth at the meet.

Also on Friday, Feb. 20, Zach Mikkelson (right) took first and Landen Nelson took third in section 1A championships. Zach also broke the Rochester Century 11 dive pool record that night.
