GENERAL TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
The Red Wing Public Schools transportation department serves over 750 bus stop locations within the community. Bus stops are designed with consideration of safety, shortest over-all ride time for students and cost efficiency. Red Wing also follows a "Neighborhood Bus Stop System", students walk or bike a few blocks to a common location such as a neighborhood park or corner and get on the bus with other students of varying ages from the neighborhood.
Eligibility to ride the district buses is determined by the following criteria:
Grades K - 4: Students who live more than 1 mile from school
Grades 5 - 7: Students who live more than 1.5 miles from school
Grades 8 - 12: Students who live more than 2 miles from school
Additionally: If you are grade 8-12 and live within the Twin Bluff walk zone, you will walk to Twin Bluff Middle School to get on a shuttle to Red Wing High School or if you are grade 3 -12 and live within the Burnside walk zone, you will walk to Burnside Elementary to get on a shuttle bust to Sunnyside Elementary, Twin Bluff Middle School or Red Wing High School.
